At Aspect Builders, we are a dedicated team of experienced tradesmen with over 25 years of expertise in architectural renovations, restorations, and new builds. Based in the beautiful Nelson Tasman region, we strongly commit to quality craftsmanship and personalized service. We understand that building or renovating your home is a significant investment, and our goal is to make the process as smooth and enjoyable as possible.
Darren is a Director at Aspect Builders with over 20 years of experience in the building industry. He’s a trade-qualified builder, Licensed Building Practitioner, and holds a Diploma in Quantity Surveying and Construction Management — giving him a strong mix of hands-on building experience and practical project management.
Darren’s building career started with an apprenticeship at Aspect Builders and after qualifying, he moved to Wellington where he studied and worked for a large commercial construction company. This experience helped strengthen his skills in project planning, cost control, and site management.
After returning to Nelson in 2015, Darren partnered with Grant at Aspect Builders. Today, Darrens main role is managing the day-to-day operations of the business and overseeing all projects from start to finish. He takes pride in clear communication, attention to detail, and making sure clients feel well informed throughout the build process.
When he’s not at work, Darren enjoys making the most of Nelson’s outdoors, running and biking local trails and spending time with his wife and two young children.

Grant is the founding director of Aspect Builders, with over 40 years of experience in the building industry. He has had a great deal of experience in architectural work, both residential and light commercial.
Trade qualified in both Joinery and Carpentry, he has a good eye for small details and a passion for interesting and complex projects. He enjoys the challenges that these projects provide and the necessity of working closely with his clients through good, clear, and honest communication.
Strengths would be problem-solving, communication and work ethic.
When Grant is not at work he is raising his 2 daughters, spending time with his partner, travelling the country supporting his youngest daughter in her national + internal motocross career and occasionally getting out on the trails on his adventure bike with his great mates.
